“We were delighted that you were able to play at our formal Divisional Guest Night at the Joint Services Command and Staff College. Despite the international attendance on the course, most of the attendees were not familiar with the sitar and tabla. They all really enjoyed the opportunity to experience this music which is not traditional at these types of functions. It was excellent background accompaniment in the dining hall. You were also thoroughly professional, friendly and flexible to fit into the order of events.” Phil Game, Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Shrivenham

The Doctor of Sitar
The Doctor of Sitar is availabe for concerts, weddings and events in both London and the South West.
He is the only UK-based exponent of the performance style of the oldest sarod and sitar musical lineage, the Lucknow-Shahjahanpur Gharana - about which he has completed a PhD.
He is, at least, the 7th generation of a family of travelling performers of Romani origin. Aged 4, he chose the cello as his primary mode of performance. His sitar training began later, during the first year of an undergraduate in Composition with cello at Birmingham Conservatoire.
After over a decade of preparatory study of Hindustani music in the UK, he eventually travelled to Kolkata, where he met and became a sitar student of sarod master, Ustad Irfan Muhammad Khan - the last remaining hereditary proprietor of the Lucknow-Shahjahanpur Gharana.
He is one of only a handful of musicians in the world now responsible for propagating the expansive repertoire of this illustrious musical lineage, which traces back to the royal courts of Late Mughal India.
His stirring performance style and deep reverence for the melodic expression of the ragas he plays will conjure the perfect atmosphere to suit your event.
