Abigail Homes - Harpist

This harpist's love of music started at a very young age after discovering the harp at a local craft fair and falling in love with the instrument. Under the direction of Margaret Knight she began her career as a harpist. Her passion and repertoire for the harp flourished as she went on to achieve ABRSM grade eight with distinction and won countless medals for performing. She studied at Dartington College of Arts graduating with a 2.1 BA Hons in Music Performance under the guidance of Emma Graham; it was here that she won the Devon performing arts festival during her final two years of study and with this, achieving sponsorship from prestigious harp company Salvi.

Whilst at university she performed at local hotels every weekend and had numerous pupils pass under her tutorage. She has played with several professional orchestras which have allowed her to perform in some of the most impressive and celebrated concert halls in Europe; amongst them, St Mark’s Cathedral (Venice) and the Royal Albert Hall (London).

Her solo performances include a wide range of events such as, corporate functions, charitable events, birthdays, funerals as well as televised production. Her performances have incorporated a number of different settings, from back gardens to beaches and churches to halls, displaying her ability to adapt and play in any chosen venue. Currently studying for her diploma and working part-time as a music teacher she has now shifted focus to becoming a freelance performer and wedding harpist; with six years of experience to her name, she has firmly established herself within this field and as a result is able to accommodate for the needs of any client on their wedding day.
