Paul Cheshunt - Gypsy Jazz Guitarist

This self-taught artist started playing guitar from age 5 and assimilated many styles in his formative period. His two creative passions are art and music, the former of which he taught professionally for many years. He combines his skills has a teacher with his considerable prowess as a musician to deliver gypsy jazz workshops both in the UK and on the continent.

He composes much of his own material, which has been broadcast on BBC radio and also in Europe and Australia. He has been interviewed on radio several times where he has talked about his work and perfomed tracks from his CDs.

He has played to sell out audiences throughout the UK at festivals, clubs, and theatres and has played at society weddings and private functions including Kenwood House in London. His playing has included sharing the stage with many world class exponents of gypsy jazz including Boulou and Elios Ferre, Romane, Angelo Debarre and Fapy Lafertin to name a few, earning him many accolades in international jazz and guitar publications.

He has played in many ensembles and currently tours with his life-long second guitarist and cousin, as a much-in-demand and exceptional acoustic duo.

Although his main love is gypsy jazz he enjoys an eclectic approach to guitar, embracing many flavours and sounds. Indeed his appeal is largely down to his own unique take on the music, which is always alive, fresh and vibrant. His acoustic journey visits Jazz, Classical, Latin and blues.

He has been described as: ‘One of the world’s finest Django stylists and a wonderful composer.’
