Grant Tate - Classical Guitarist

This classical guitarist began playing the classical guitar at the age of 5. Inspired by the recordings of John Williams and Julian Bream, he was soon performing at local venues. He gained a Distinction in Grade 8 Guitar at the age of 16 and attained Trinity College's Performer's Certificate, before studying at Birmingham Conservatoire under the tutorage of Simon Dinnigan. He graduated with First Class Honours having performed not only as a soloist but in many ensembles and with orchestra. He has had masterclasses with some of the world's most eminent performers, including Jose Tomas (noted for his association with the late Andres Segovia), Roberto Aussel, Hubert Kappel, Goran Sollscher, Slava Grigoriyan and Allan Neave. He is active both as a performer and teacher.

His repertoire includes music of many different styles, but for weddings and other functions he selects pieces that will appeal to all. A typical programme will draw from the rich tradition of Spanish guitar music, the exotic sounds of South America and will include arrangements of tunes that many people will recognise - all presented in a way that is fitting for the occasion.
