Dominic Neilson - Sitar Player

This musician has been playing the sitar since he brought his first one back from Jaipur in 2001 and started lessons shortly after returning home.

He is available for Midlands weddings - solo, duo or trio and has been playing shows in Leicester, Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Nottingham and elsewhere in the Midlands for many years.

He is also available as a group (Sitar,Tabla, Acoustic Tampura) and they provide ideal Indian/ Hindustani light classical backing music to weddings, parties, functions, yoga/ meditation classes and musical events in the Midlands area.

He can also provide sitar and tabla demonstrations and workshops at your school, college, or community centre.

He offers a traditional combination of 3 instruments which are:

 

  • Sitar - the most well known Indian classical instrument.
  • Tabla - small Indian hand drums.
  • Tampura - similar in size and shape to a sitar but with only 4 strings. This instrument provides the traditional 'drone' of Indian classical music.

 

Different packages are available offering a combination of up to 3 musicians or with a pre-recorded/electronic drone or backing. You can choose as many musicians as you wish to suit your budget. 

 

  • Package 1 - Sitar with Recorded Tabla Backing & Electronic Tampura (1 musician)
  • Package 2 - Sitar, Live Tabla and Electronic Tampura (2 musicians)
  • Package 3 - Sitar, Live Tabla and Live Acoustic Tampura (A full 3 piece group)

 

They can supply their own PA system (either 150 or 300 Watt depending on room size), mixing desk and microphones when required at no extra cost.

All electrical equipment is PAT Tested. They are also covered by Public Liability Insurance to the value of £1,000,000.

They always wear traditional Indian clothing and bring their own floor coverings and cushions. All they require is some space and to be situated within reasonable distance of a mains electricity socket.
