The London Guitar & Violin Duo - Guitar & Violin Duo

The members of this London guitar and violin duo are both graduates of the Royal College of Music and provide the highest possible standards of performance for any event. They specialise in making their own transcriptions of both classical and popular music alike and are both very comfortable playing traditional repertoire for your event. They are also happy to create something extra special to suit your occasion.

The Violinist is from Romania and started the violin at the age of 4 years old with her mother, an accomplished musician and leader of the ‘Gaudeamus’ String quartet. Later on, she studied violin at Brasov Music College and proved her excellent ability at many national and international violin competitions. After winning a national competition in 2006, she was awarded the “Constantin Silvestri” Scholarship to study at Pocklington School in York, England, as well as a full music scholarship at Wellington College the following year.

In 2008 she won 2nd prize at the Hickies Reading Young Musician Competition and the opportunity to play with the Reading Symphony Orchestra.

She has given many violin recitals and concerts both as a soloist and as part of different orchestras at many important concert halls across Europe (Greece, Poland, Italy, Germany, France, Spain and UK).

She performed at Royal Festival Hall, St-Martin-in-the-fields, Cadogan Hall, Royal Albert Hall (part of the 1st violin section of the English Chamber Orchestra), Wigmore hall and many other prestigious venues.

In 2013 she graduated with Honours from the Royal College of Music in London, where she studied with Yossi Zivoni. During her time at the College, she has attended Masterclasses with Remus Azoitei, Lewis Kaplan (Professor at Julliard School) and had chamber music training with the Chilingirian String Quartet. She has been heavily actively involved in many orchestral and solo projects, been asked to lead orchestras (King’s College Chamber Orchestra), performing Mozart A Major Concerto as part of a Masterclass Series, as well as having a more commercial and modern approach - In February 2015 she was commissioned by HBO to play for their 4th season DVD release in London, a highly mediatised event. In September 2015 she also performed in front of almost 1000 people at the G Arena popular snooker themes before a match between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Jimmy White MBE.

The Guitarist graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2014 with a 1st Class Honours Bachelor of Music.  She studied primarily with Gary Ryan, but also received coaching from Chris Stell and extra lessons with Craig Ogden and Jakob Lindberg on the lute.

During her time at the RCM, she took part in masterclasses with John Williams, Stefan L?fvenius, Carlos Bonell, Jason Vieaux, and Julian Byzantine as well as performing at Queen Elisabeth Hall and the Purcell Room as part of “The Rest Is Noise” Festival 2013.  She premiered new guitar works at the National Portrait Gallery and the Martin Harris Centre.  She was the winner of the Lennox Berkeley Guitar Prize 2012 and was the given a Highly Commended Award for the annual Royal College of Music Guitar Competition in both 2014 and 2012.  She was also selected to represent the RCM at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart in an Erasmus exchange programme in 2012.  She also reached the final of the Croydon Concerto Competition 2011 with a performance of the Malcolm Arnold Guitar Concerto.

Originally from the market town of Northampton, she began her studies with John Draper from the age of twelve. During school years, she was a committed member of the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust, working as a student governor in her final year.  She was a member of the Northamptonshire County Youth Guitar Ensemble for six years, four of which were spent as principal guitarist. She also received the Gordon Robinson Fellowship Award for her performance on the guitar and also succeeded in securing a place in the National Youth Guitar Ensemble.
